The 2014-15 hurricane season starts June 1st so now is a good time to start preparing by assembling an emergency supply kit. An emergency supply kit is a collection of basic household items you may need during and after a hurricane or tropical storm strikes your area.
The 2014 Louisiana Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is May 24-25, 2014 so you may be able to save money if you purchase supplies on these days. View the full list of items available under this program.
The Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) recommends packing at least three days of supplies in case of an emergency. Below are some suggested items to include in an emergency supply kit:
